AIT

With more than 1,500 employees, the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) is Austria’s largest research and technology organization. The AIT focuses on the research areas of “sustainable and resilient infrastructures”, particularly in the fields of energy, transportation and health, as well as the “digital transformation of industry and society”, working closely with universities, industry and public institutions. Over 230 experts at the Center for Digital Safety & Security are developing state-of-the-art technologies to ensure that our systems are highly secure and reliable in the context of comprehensive digitization and global networking. The Center cooperates with international organizations such as OSZE, UNODC, UNOCT, Interpol and Europol, and nationally with the BMI and the BMLV. 

The CEPOLIS research department is based at the Bavarian University of Applied Sciences for the Public Service – Department of Policing (BayHfoD). CEPOLIS – the Center of Excellence for Police and Security Research – has been involved in various national and European projects since 2012 and conducts research, development and innovation. CEPOLIS is committed to optimising police procedures and strengthening public safety. Scientific exchange is promoted through close cooperation with research institutions, universities, police authorities and companies in Germany and abroad. Since its inception, more than 50 projects have been completed, successfully collaborating with over 400 research partners. The aim is to transfer scientifically sound findings directly into practice and thus make a lasting contribution to security in our society. 

The Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research (CENTRIC) is a multidisciplinary, security-focused research centre at Sheffield Hallam University. We collaborate with research, government, industry and security stakeholders delivering tangible solutions for law enforcement and other security stakeholders to address contemporary security challenges. Through our diverse team of researchers, technology specialists and security experts, we aim to bridge the gap between excellent applied research and the reality of the operational security environment.   

The Cyprus Police (CYPOL) was established under Article 130 of the 1960 Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus, which initially defined separate forces: “POLICE” for urban areas and “GENDARMERIES” for rural areas. These forces merged in 1964 to form the Cyprus Police Force, and in 2004, Law 73(I) officially changed the name to Cyprus Police. Operating under the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, Cyprus Police is tasked with maintaining law and order, preserving peace, preventing and detecting crime, and apprehending offenders, while ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights. The current strategic mission of the police, led by the Chief, focuses on fostering stronger relations with citizens, reducing crime, and safeguarding human rights. As the southeastern Mediterranean guardian of the EU, Cyprus Police plays a vital role in preventing illegal activities and criminals from entering or transiting EU territory. It works through various departments to combat crime and fulfil EU objectives set by the European Commission and Council. 

The Ministry of the Interior (FIMOI) is the ministry for internal security. The Ministry’s vision is a safe and secure society in all situations. The Ministry of the Interior guides and directs the police service and prepares related legislation. The purpose of police work is to ensure the safety of people and the environment.

FBK

-Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) is a multidisciplinary research institution based in Trento, Italy, specializing in technology, innovation, the humanities, and social sciences. FBK is dedicated to advancing scientific and technological knowledge to foster economic growth and social progress. The institution employs over 620 staff members, hosts 170 doctoral students, and welcomes 200 visiting researchers. Its activities are organized across two main hubs: one focused on technology and innovation, and the other on the humanities and social sciences. 
FBK encompasses 12 research centers. Within the IAMI project, contributions come from the Project Management Group of the DigiS Centre and the Augmented Intelligence (AI) Centre. These involve two key research units: the Deep Visual Learning Lab, which focuses on applying deep learning and computer vision techniques to real-world data analysis, and the SpeechTek Lab, which develops AI-powered speech technologies, including speech enhancement and multimodal processing solutions. 

The Guardia Civil (GUCI) is a Spanish police corps with and forms part of the Spanish State Law Enforcement Agencies.  The main mission of the Guardia Civil is to guarantee the protection of citizens against criminal acts that may threaten them, to ensure compliance with the law by bringing to justice anyone who violates it, to defend the free exercise of rights and freedoms and to maintain public safety.  Guardia Civil deals with necessities of the Treasury Ministry related to the financial prosecutions of the state. As a Police Corps it performs general tasks like Public Security and Order, Criminal Police, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism and also Administrative Police. Guardia Civil do also specifics tasks like Border & Customs Police, Road Traffic Police – interurban, Firearms and explosives control, coastal security and nature protection. 

 

The Office of the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police (ICEPOL) serves as the central authority overseeing law enforcement operations across Iceland. Operating under the Ministry of Justice, the office is responsible for coordinating national policing efforts, developing strategic policies, and providing specialized services such as counter-terrorism preparedness, domestic security matters and crisis management (civil protection). While Icelandic policing follows a decentralized model with local police districts handling day-to-day law enforcement, the National Commissioner ensures uniform standards, operational support, and professional development across the service. Additionally, the office plays a crucial role in international police cooperation, liaising with agencies such as Europol, Interpol, and the Nordic police collaboration network.

The National Institute for Research & Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest) is Romania’s leading research institution in cybersecurity, software development, and IT system integration. With over 50 years of experience, ICI Bucharest conducts advanced research in network security, blockchain, and artificial intelligence, contributing to critical infrastructure protection. Beyond cybersecurity, the institute focuses on software development and system integration, supporting digital transformation through e-government and cloud computing projects. ICI Bucharest is a factor in innovating secure and trustworthy digital technologies by collaborating with national and international partners. 

Identity & Security Germany AG (IDEMIA) is a 100% subsidiary of the globally operating IDEMIA group. Based on deep-rooted experience in biometrics and cryptography, the IDEMIA group creates adaptable and scalable mission-critical solutions that impact all industries ౼ from banking to telecommunications, automotive to travel, and travel to public safety. Within the IDEMIA group, IDEMIA Identity & Security Germany AG develops cutting edge technologies including 2D face recognition, person re-identification and soft-biometrics. According to NIST benchmarks, its 2D face recognition technology belongs to the best performing de-biased solutions worldwide. IGP

The General Police Inspectorate (GPI) is a public authority under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, responsible for implementing state policies on public order, security, crime prevention, and justice administration across Republic of Moldova. As the central unit of police administration and control, GPI coordinates and organizes efforts to maintain security, prevent and combat crime, and protect individuals, property, and community interests.  Its key functions include maintaining public order, preventing and investigating crimes and contraventions, ensuring justice administration, supporting local authorities, and overseeing police operations. GPI’s mission is to enhance citizen safety, improve crime prevention, and counter threats to life, liberty, and property while upholding legal and community interests. 

 

The Center for Security Studies (KEMEA), is a scientific, consulting and research organization overseen by the Minister of Citizen Protection, governed by common law and annually audited by chartered accountants.  Its principal purpose is to conduct theoretical and applied research and studies, particularly at strategic level, on security topics and policies.  Moreover, it is the think-tank of the Ministry of Citizen Protection on numerous policies such as public order, correctional services, terrorism prevention, crime prevention, integrated border management and civil protection as well as on various other security and societal issues; it also provides advisory and consulting risk-management services to an array of public and private organizations.

The Polish Police (KPOL) is headed by the Commander-in-Chief of Police, to whom reports the Warsaw Metropolitan Police Commander and 16 provincial police commanders who in turn supervise city and county police chiefs responsible for daily performance of police officers at police stations. The Provincial Police Headquarters in Kielce is one of 16 provinces in Poland.  The present-day Polish Police is made up of officers performing their duties in criminal, prevention and logistics services; the latter support the activities of the Police in terms of organization, logistics and technology. Police officers are educated and prepared for carrying out their duties in police schools and training centers. Police ranks are being joined by increasingly better educated young people. Police officers have a number of powers, including the right to check the persons’ identity, detain and search persons and premises, make personal checks, use direct coercive measures and firearms. The detention of the most dangerous criminals is handled by perfectly armed and trained police counter-terrorist units. The police officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police break up organized crime groups, fight against criminal terror and narcobusiness. The Polish Police enjoys increasing public trust and the number of people who feel safer is growing every year.

The Department of Adaptive Systems is part of the Institute of Information Theory and Automation (UTIA), a non-profit public research institution under the Czech Academy of Sciences. The department specializes in developing decision-making systems that adapt to the ever-changing properties of their environments. With over six decades of research expertise, our team has made significant contributions by delivering innovative conceptual, theoretical, algorithmic, and applied solutions.
